RAEME Ride

G'Day All

Sunday February 3rd was my chance to organise a ride. The date coincided with the third Annual RAEME Day of Remembrance at the Shrine so what better way to combine the two events.
The weather was pretty cloudy and I thought there may have been some wet arses but the gods smiled upon us and kept us warm and dry.
Meeting at Shell Westgate for a 10.30 am kick-off, I was really surprised to see such a great turn-out. Not only did we have most of our full memebers attend but we also had along our Nom and Prospects. Harps also wishes to re-engage with the club and he came along too. All up 12 bikes (fantastic.) with Bull and myself in the car.
A quick freeway burn to the Shrine of Remembrance and arrive in time for a quick look around and scratch before the march.
It was a little dis-heartening to see so few retired diggers there and Melbourne Chapter made up the numbers in the March. After a ceremony in the Cenotaph it was down to the RAEME tree where a cross was placed for each fallen RAEME member during the past 12 months.
Then it was another short ride to the Emerald Hotel in South Melbourne for a few Ales and a bite to eat.
The old diggers were wrapt to see us participate and welcomed us back next year.
It was a great day and I would like to add my personal thanks to all who attended to support our RAEME Brethren.
