Sheriff's Noms Ride

Hello All,

Just a quick note to let you know how my Nom ride went yesterday.  All forecasts were for rain and when Sunday morning dawned it was bright and sunny (THANK GOODNESS).  Dook, Dobbo, Walrus and myself left the Black and Red Shed at 1030 for Port Welshpool via Yarram on the South Gippsland Highway.  No wallopers were seen on the way down but the pace was kept to a respectable (and legal) trot.

On arrival at Welshpool we refuelled and went down to the restaurant at Port Welshpool.  The lady at the restaurant opened for us and was quite welcoming.  After a hearty feed of fish and chips adjacent to the fireplace we then made a hasty departure before the rain that we had been watching advance on us for the last hour arrived.

We managed to all stay dry but it was really windy.  I have it on authority that the wind was a steady 30 knots gusting to 41.  In layman's terms it was fu#$#%$ windy.  On the way back we went the back way to Seaspray where apparently I managed to 'scare' Dobbo.  Viragos, as well as being quite susceptible to cross wind aren't a match for the fine mechanical tradition that is the Harley Davidson.  Harleys 3, Yamahas 1. But no matter who 'won' or 'lost the real winner was the Patriots (insert retch here...).

It was a good day with the only thing that detracted from the overall success being the wind.  My thanks go to the boys who managed to brave the Gippsland weather patterns and I look forward to the Poker Run that is coming up on May 15.

Cheers

Sheriff
