Skinner's Noms Ride
Saturday the 15 th of January was the day. Woke up in the morning and look to the north to see big black clouds "Damn" then looked to the south and saw blue sky "Yeah" because that's where we were headed down to the peninsula. Got the bike out and road down to the KFC at the corner of Dandy and Warrigal Rd to meet the rest of the crew riding over from the west and north.
Rat was already there waiting making sure not to miss out on the ride. We waited for a while and as expected bang on 10:30am the rest rocked up. It was great to see the turn out; we had Chef and Sleeper, Scorpion and Magic, Shrek and Marta, Foggy, Stevo and Gibbo. We had a chat and the guys had a stretch then we headed of at 10:45am as planned. Our next stop was Somerville to meet Clubs. We took a nice leisurely cruise down Dandy road and worked our way onto the Frankston FWY.
The ride to Somerville was nice and relaxed; the traffic was thinner than I expected probably due to the grim weather forecast yet the weather was getting better. Once we arrived at Somerville we meet Clubs had a cuppa and a chat. The next leg of the ride was to Red Hill and Arthurs Seat. We took the scenic route past the farms and wineries. Unfortunately we encountered some road works and had to ride over some dirt road, but it was O.K. the road wasn't dusty so our gleaming cruisers didn't get dirty, (who cares about those Jap racers "HA, HA").
Once we reached Arthurs Seat the view was magnificent. The weather was fine and the bay dead flat. We made it down the mountain in one piece and Clubs had some fun down the winding road. We then rode to Rye along the beach with a detour via some back roads when the traffic banked up. Once at Rye we stoped at the American Motorcycle Memorabilia shop and had a stretch and a look see. We decided it was time for lunch so we geared up and made our way to Sorrento via the back roads.
We arrived at Sorrento in the early afternoon found a good parking spot for the bikes out the front of the Sorrento pub on the beach. The view was good and we could see the Queenscliff ferry come and go. We had a few beers and chatted some more. Chef then presented me with my Patriots members' patch, so now I am a proud member of the Patriots Australia with my other brothers in arms. We had a good feed and then headed home.
We rode back to Somerville so Rat could pick up some stuff, I said my good byes there because I would peel off once we reached Mt Waverley. The ride back along the freeway was quite good.
That's the end of that, the weather was great the company was great the ride was great hell it was all great. Thanks to everyone who came on the ride, stay upright and we'll ride again.
Regards Skinner.
