The Alice Pack for saddle bags, 1 pair of GS boots for those Harley
boots, the prismatic compass for the straight bar handle bars, these
camouflage clothing for those leather trouser’s, Jacket and Vest.
I continued my internal patrol within the store and through all the
concertina wire and minefields that lay before me I captured one of
many, a unique machine known to Mankind, A HARLEY DAVIDSON.
The run had been divided into 4 legs, where my fellow Brother in Arms
Benno “BJ”, lead for the last 2 legs on a whirl wind Virgin trip for
many. The first leg from the Clubhouse to the lookout point on top of
the Hill had many stating how scenic the ride was and the sudden steep
incline to the hill had just sneaked up on them. Once on top of the hill
many were talking about the snake that crossed the road or thinking
they were still in the Jungle’s of Asia. A great opportunity for those
who attended for a group photo was had with the tail end Charlie falling
to a casualty to a part failure.
The second leg moved the Patriots to an Old Area of Operations from
previous Poker runs from the Patriots the “HUDSONS HOTEL” in Ballan. The
Commanding Officer and Welfare Officer of the venue allowed a 30minute
window of opportunity for the Patriots to rejuvenate their thirst to
continue the day’s mission. Those fortunate to meet, “MONSTA” the four
legged RSM were enjoying the company of another species of Ballan.
On the third leg for the Patriots we had all gathered
at a venue that was coincidentally displaying the AFL Premiership Cup
during the Patriots Presence at the Caroline Springs “THE CLUB”. The
Patriots unsaddled and were welcomed into the premises with a free
sausage sizzle BBQ out the back.
The mission to fulfil the requirements for a Nom run
to invite the Patriots for lunch was well received by all members. The
moment had come for when the President stands for a purpose and today
Benno “BJ” was presented with his colours as a newly patched member of
the Patriots Melbourne Chapter.
Benno “BJ” mission to become a probationary member to the Patriots was complete and well received by all present.
I had also been presented with my new colours and
acknowledged the presentation from the President towards the Patriot
members, family and friends who had gathered with a traditional Maori
song and Haka.
On the final leg back to the Patriots Clubhouse, some
might say it was rain, but it could be seen as a Blessing or Christening
for “BJ” and “Smitty” becoming members in the Melbourne chapter of
Patriots Australia.
As all ex servicemen and women would say who ride the roads,
“It was a Bloody Choyce Ride ....Bro”
