Brain Teaser Run
Once again Melbourne spring weather was out in its
glory supplying us with a fantastic day for riding. We met up at the
Shell servo and ended up with a total of nine bikes. Some of our
regulars were MIA but it good to see Crossbow and Bomber who we don't
get to catch up with that often.
Instead of the normal run, the riders were split into teams of
two bikes and given a map of the city and a set of written instructions
that also contained cryptic questions that they needed to answer in
order to make their way around the route. The teams were given five
minutes to read their instructions and were sent off at five minute
intervals. Watering holes were built into the ride, as were several item
of proof of visit that each team had to obtain.
I followed Foggy and Jay, who were the last team to leave to the
first two check points. Fellas, it's bloody hard to win if you aren't
even on the correct side of the building to get the answer to the clue.
From there, I headed off another check point, grabbed a beer and
waited for the teams to arrive. While travelling around the city, Stevo
had a slight run in with the constabulary. From all accounts, the
officer was standing beside the driver's door of a locked car when Stevo
cracked open the throttle. Lots of juice, Screamin Eagle pipes and the
car's alarm went ballistic, leaving the hapless copper standing there
shaking his head.
We all collected at Highway 31, licensed café which is very much
biker oriented for a couple of beers and then en-mass headed of the
Sunshine RSL for our monthly meeting.
In the wash-up, most of the teams were able to correctly answer
all of the questions, but Fuge and Fatboy were the standout winners by
being able correctly cover the course in a paltry 16km (which actually
took about an hour and a half). By all accounts everybody enjoyed the
day and are looking forward to the next Brain Teaser Run. Look out
though; the questions will get more difficult.
